30 Best Atlanta Rappers of All Time (Rappers From ATL)

If you’re looking for the best rappers of all time from Atlanta, Georgia, you’ve come to the right place!

There are lots of successful Atlanta rappers and it can be tough to know where to begin – that’s why we’ve compiled this list.

Hopefully, after reading, you’ll know exactly who to listen to.

1. Young Thug

Jeffery Lamar Williams, who goes by the stage name Young Thug, is an Atlanta rapper that has influenced the rap world with his trap/hip-hop beats.

Both of his studio albums – So Much Fun and Punk – reached number one on the US mainstream and rap charts.

He is the proud holder of a Grammy Award for Song of the Year for “This Is America” – his collaboration with Childish Gambino.

He also holds six other awards, for his work “Wyclef Jean” and “Havana” (with Camila Cabello).

2. Gucci Mane

Radric Delantic Davis, known as Gucci Mane, has released a whopping 15 studio albums!

They all charted in the US mainstream, R&B/Hip-Hop, rap, and independent album charts.

In 2017 Gucci Mane won an MTV Video Music Award in the category of Best Pop Video for his work “Down” with Fifth Harmony.

He has also been nominated for ten other awards throughout his successful career.

3. Ludacris

Christopher Brian Bridges, i.e. Ludacris, moved to Atlanta at age nine where he began his rap career.

He later began his very own record label, named Disturbing Tha Peace, and subsequently released his debut studio album Incognegro in 1999.

He has since released nine other albums, with his most successful being Word of Mouf, which has been awarded quadruple platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America for sales of over four million!

4. André 3000

André Lauren Benjamin, who is better known by the stage name André 3000, is a rapper that was born in Atlanta.

He is well known for being a member of the hip-hop duo Outkast, with rapper Big Boi.

André 3000 has been named one of the greatest rappers of all time by Billboard, among others!

As a solo artist, he has released one EP, one solo single, and eleven collaborative singles.

Perhaps his most well-known song, “Life of the Party” with Kanye West charted in the US, Ireland, and New Zealand.

5. T.I.

T.I. (or T.I.P), whose full name is Clifford Joseph Harris Jr., is one of the highest-selling artists of all time.

Born and raised in Atlanta, he is said to be a rapper who has changed the course of trap music.

With an impressive 64 award wins and 170 nominations, T.I. is a three-time Grammy winner.

His work “What you Know”, “My Love” (with Justin Timberlake), and “Swagga Like Us” (with Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Lil Wayne) won him Best Rap Solo Performance, Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, and Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or group, respectively.

6. Lil Baby

Dominique Armani Jones, known as Lil Baby, is a 24-time award-winning rapper from Atlanta.

He has released three studio albums; two of which topped the US mainstream and R&B/Hip-Hop charts.

His album My Turn is his most successful, which was certified quadruple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.

Many of his singles have also charted in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, Ireland, and Sweden!

7. 21 Savage

Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, who goes by the stage name 21 Savage, was raised in Atlanta by his mother since the age of seven.

His two studio albums Issa Album and I Am > I Was have both been certified platinum in the United States.

He is the winner of a Grammy award for Best Rap song for his collaboration “A Lot” with J. Cole and has also won an MTV Video Music Award and a Billboard Music Award for “Rockstar” with Post Malone (Song of the Year and Top Rap Song respectively).

8. Future

Nayvadius DeMun Cash, who adopted the stage name Future, is an Atlanta rapper well-known for his mumble-style vocals.

He is thought to be a trailblazer for the use of auto-tune in the hip-hop subgenre of trap music.

Named one of the most influential rappers of his time, Future has released nine studio albums and won six awards, including two Grammys for Best Rap Performance and Best Melodic Rap Performance (“Kings Dead” and “Wait For U”).

9. Big Boi

Antwan André Patton, better known as Big Boi, is the other half of the hip-hop duo Outkast (along with André 3000).

He has created three solo studio albums, with Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty being the most successful.

It reached number three on the US mainstream, hip-hop, and rap charts.

Many of his singles are collaborations with other singers and rappers, namely Mary J. Blige, Adam Levine, Kelly Rowland, and LunchMoney Lewis.

10. Offset

Kiari Kendrell Cephus, i.e. Offset, began his career as a member of the rap group Migos with his cousins Quavo and Takeoff.

He released his solo studio album “Father of 4” in 2019, which has since been certified Gold by the RIAA and charted in several countries.

Offset’s most successful single is “Ric Flair Drip” with Metro Boomin, which was certified 6x platinum and charted in the US, the UK, Australia, and Canada! 

11. Soulja Boy

DeAndre Cortez Way, otherwise known as Soulja Boy or, formerly, Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em, is a rapper that originates from Atlanta.

His self-published debut “Crank That (Soulja Boy)” became a hit when it shot to the top of the Billboard Hot 100.

Soulja Boy has won a total of three awards among eleven nominations: BET Hip-Hop Awards – Best Hip-Hop Dance, BET Social Awards – Social Verified Award, and Ozone Awards – Patiently Waiting: Mississippi.

12. 2 Chainz

Tauheed K. Epps, known professionally as 2 Chainz, made his name as an Atlanta rapper when he joined the duo Playaz Circle with Earl “Dolla Boy” Conyers.

His debut studio album Based On a T.R.U Story became platinum certified after it topped the US mainstream, R&B/Hip Hop, and rap album charts.

Two of his albums have also topped these charts – Pretty Girls Like Trap Music and Rap or Go to the League.

13. Lil Yachty

Miles Parks McCollum, who goes by the name Lil Yachty, dropped out of school and moved to Alabama to pursue his career as a rapper.

While he hasn’t won any awards, he holds ten nominations!

Each of his five studio albums performed critically well, reaching the top 15 of the US mainstream chart, and also charting in the UK, Canada, Australia, France, and New Zealand!

He’s certainly one to check out.

14. CeeLo Green

Thomas DeCarlo Callaway-Burton, i.e. CeeLo Green, was born and raised in Atlanta.

He began his rap career as a hip-hop group Goodie Mob member, but his real success came as a solo performer.

His hit single “Fuck You” reached number one in the UK and number two in the US before being awarded 7x platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America!

15. Kanye West

Kanye Omari West, sometimes going simply as Ye, was born in Atlanta in 1977.

He is a name that everyone knows and has spread his talents across rapping, singing, fashion designing, songwriting, and producing.

With a whopping 273 wins and 793 nominations, Kanye West has earned his fair share of awards.

He has won 24 Grammy awards among 75 nominations in a range of different categories, which is an extremely impressive accomplishment!

16. Lil Jon

Jonathan H. Smith, or Lil Jon, began his career as the frontman of Lil Jon & the East Side Boys.

He is said to have been influential in the success of crunk music, with numerous collaborations with other rappers.

His only solo album Crunk Rock charted on the US Billboard 200, Top R&B/Hip-Hop albums, and Top Rap albums charts at number 49, number 8, and number 5 respectively.

17. Killer Mike

Michael Santiago Render, who goes by the stage name Killer Mike, was raised in Atlanta, Georgia, largely by his Grandparents.

He made his debut on the Grammy award-winning single “The Whole World” with Outkast.

His five studio albums performed moderately well, with his debut album Monster performing the best.

It reached number 10 and number 4 on the US mainstream and R&B album charts respectively.

18. Money Man

Tysen Jay Bolding, who goes by Money Man or Big Money professionally, grew up as an Atlanta rapper.

His career took off upon the release of his single “24”, which featured Lil Baby, from his album Epidemic.

He has an impressive 23 mixtapes, with his later work being generally more popular.

His 2021 mixtape Blockchain reached number 13 on the Billboard Hot 200 album chart and was home to the popular track “LLC” featuring Moneybagg Yo.

19. Young Jeezy

Jay Wayne Jenkins, who goes by the stage name Young Jeezy or Jeezy, is a four-time Grammy Award nominee from Atlanta.

He shot to fame, and subsequently, six of his twelve studio albums reached the top of the US R&B/Hip-Hop album chart.

Young Jeezy has won three awards, including Best Hip-Hop collaboration for “I’m So Hood”, Best Rap Album for The Inspiration, and Best Rap/R&B Collaboration for “Love In This Club” with Usher.

20. Gunna

Sergio Giavanni Kitchens, known by his stage name Gunna, began his career due to growing up listening to rap (specifically Outkast and Chingy).

Between 2020 and 2023 he has been nominated for four Grammy awards.

Gunna has three studio albums: Drip or Down 2, Wunna, and DS4Ever.

All three reached the top of the US mainstream, R&B/Hip-hop, and rap album charts, with the former two certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.

21. Childish Gambino

Donald Glover, or Childish Gambino, is a talented Alabama rapper, singer, actor, producer, comedian, and director.

He is most well known for his 2018 single “This Is America”, which topped the US, Canadian, Australian, and UK charts.

Nine of his other singles have been certified platinum by various associations, including his single “Redbone” which was certified 5x platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America and the Australia Recording Industry Association.

22. Rich Homie Quan

Dequantes Lamar, better known as Rich Homie Quan, is an Atlanta rapper who specializes in hip-hop and mumble rap.

His 2018 studio album Rich as in Spirt reached number 32 on the US mainstream chart, number 19 on the R&B hip-hop chart, and number 15 on the rap chart.

His most successful single is “Flex (Ooh Ooh Ooh)”, which is certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.

The song reached number 4 on the US rap chart and also charted on the mainstream, R&B/Hip-Hop, and Canadian charts.

23. Lil Scrappy

Darryl Raynard Richardson III, i.e. Lil Scrappy, was discovered by Lil Jon while he was performing in Atlanta.

His first two studio albums Bred 2 Die Born 2 Live and Prince of the South charted on the US mainstream, independent album, rap, and R&B charts.

Lil Scrappy furthered his career and built his reputation by appearing on seven seasons of the TV series Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta. 

24. Mike WiLL Made-It

Michael Len Williams II is an Atlanta rapper who stylizes his stage name as Mike Will Made It, Mike WiLL Made-It, or just Mike Will.

He broke into the hip-hop scene by producing trap music for many hit songs by popular artists.

In 2018 he won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Song for his work “HUMBLE.” with Kendrick Lamar.

Mike Will has also won awards for Hip Hop/R&B Song of the Year, Best Club Banger, and Producer of the Year.

25. Yung Wun

James Carlton Anderson, better known as Yung Wun, grew up in a crime-ridden neighborhood in Atlanta.

He said that he began rapping as an escape from this life, and success soon caught up to him as he turned his life around.

His debut studio album The Dirtiest Thirstiest proved popular, charting at number 11 on the US Billboard Heatseekers Album chart, number 30 on the Top R&B/Hip Hop Album chart, and number 24 on the Top Rap Album chart.

26. JID

Destin Choice Route, known as JID or J.I.D, grew up in Atlanta and became a member of the rap collective Spillage Village.

Also a member of the hip-hop group Zoink Gang, JID began his solo career with the release of his debut studio album The Never Story.

He subsequently released two further albums, DiCaprio 2 and The Forever Story, with the latter being the most popular.

The album performed exceedingly well in the US, while also charting in Australia, Belgium, Ireland, The Netherlands, and New Zealand.

27. Lisa Lopes

Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes began her career when she moved to Atlanta in 1999 to be in a music video.

She ended up joining the trio TLC but ran a brief solo career alongside it.

Her single “The Block Party” was popular in the US, the UK, and Australia.

She has released two solo studio albums, Supernova and Eye Legacy.

Eye Legacy landed her on the map as a solo artist, charting on the US Indie, R&B/Hip Hop, and rap album charts.

She sadly passed in 2002, but her legacy has continued to live on.

28. Young Nudy

Quantavious Tavario Thomas, i.e. Young Nudy, grew in popularity after the release of his single “Since When” which was a collaboration with his cousin 21 Savage.

He has released four studio albums: Anyways, Dr. Ev4l, Rich Shooter, and Gumbo.

Each of his albums landed in the top 150 of the Billboard 200 album chart, and lead to his successful collaborations with other rappers such as Dreamville, J. Cole, Lil Uzi Vert, Metro Boomin, and EarthGang, among others.

29. Lil Gotit

Semaja Render, best known as Lil Gotit, grew up in Atlanta.

He has released five studio albums, but only one of which charted on the US Billboard 200.

Hood Baby 2 snuck in at number 200, leading to a bunch of collaborative singles.

Lil Gotit’s single “Da Real HoodBabies” from his album Crazy But It’s True, which featured Lil Baby, charted at number 87 on the R&B/Hip Hop charts.

30. Young Dro

D’Juan Montrel Hart, known by his stage name Young Dro, made his name when he signed with fellow Atlanta rapper T.I.’s label Grand Hustle.

His second studio album Best Thang Smokin’ topped the US R&B and rap album charts!

Young Dro has since won two awards – Best Rapper Award (Georgia) at The Ozone Awards and BET Mobile Hot Ring Award for “Shoulder Ring” with T.I. at the BET Hip Hop Awards.
