25 Florida Rappers You Should Know

This list includes the best Florida rappers that you should certainly know.

They have made history in the hip-hop world, and we hope you’re looking forward to checking out some of these stars!

1. XXXTentacion

Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy, best known as XXXTentacion, is a Florida rapper who built an enormous fanbase during his short career.

He sadly passed away in 2020 after a shooting, but his music is still released and loved today.

Of his four studio albums, two of them topped the US Billboard 200 and the R&B/Hip Hop album charts got certified quadruple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America and brought the diamond single “Sad!”.

2. Kodak Black

Bill Kahan Kapri, who goes by the stage name Kodak Black, shot to mainstream success upon the release of his debut studio album Painting Pictures in 2017.

The album rose to the top of the US R&B/Hip Hop Chart and reached number three on the Billboard 200.

His most successful single is “Zeze”, which features Travis Scott and Offset.

It topped the R&B/Hip Hop Album Chart and the US Rap Album Chart, as well as the Canadian Album Chart.

It later got awarded Platinum Certification by the RIAA.

3. Denzel Curry

Denzel Curry was born and raised in Florida and became a rapper after listening to Underground rapper SpaceGhostPurrp.

This pushed him to join the hip-hop crew Raider Clan. In 2013 he left the collective to begin his impressive solo career.

His latest studio album, titled Melt My Eyez See Your Future and released in 2022, landed on seven different charts around the world. 

4. Rick Ross

William Leonard Roberts II, best known as Rick Ross, is a Florida rapper who shot to fame in 2006 with the release of his debut studio album Port of Miami.

The album topped the US Billboard 200, the R&B/Hip Hop Album chart, and the Rap album chart.

His ten other studio albums also performed well, with most being awarded Gold certification.

Rick Ross has been nominated for multiple awards too, including Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song.

5. T-Pain

T-Pain, known to his family and friends as Faheem Rashad Najm, is a rapper from Florida who is known as one of the best rappers out there.

He won the Best Rap Song Award for “Good Life” with Kanye West, and Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for “Blame It” with Jamie Foxx.

His best-performing studio album is Epiphany, which reached the top of the Billboard 200 and the US R&B/Hip Hop Album chart and later got awarded Platinum certification.

6. Flo Rida

Tramar Lacel Dillard, who is well known as Flo Rida, blew up when his first single, titled “Low” featuring T-Pain, sat at the top of the United States Billboard Hot 100 for an impressive ten weeks.

It got awarded Diamond certification and topped five charts.

Flo Rida holds six awards, including Best Rap/Hip Hop Dance Track (“Wild Ones”), Favorite Hip Hop Song (“Low”), Single Release of the Year, Urban Work of the Year, and Highest Selling Single (“Running Back” with Jessica Mauboy).

7. Ace Hood

Antoine Franklin McColister, also known as Ace Hood, is a Florida rapper who’s signed to Dj Khaled’s label We the Best Music Group.

His debut studio album Gutta was released in 2008 and sold over 20,000 copies in just one week!

Ace Hood’s most popular single is “Bugatti” featuring Future and Rick Ross, which got awarded Platinum certification by the RIAA after charting in three different United States charts as well as in Denmark.

8. Trick Daddy

Maurice Samuel Young, better known by his stage name Trick Daddy, shot to fame after some initial controversy with the law.

His debut album, released in 1997, is titled Based on a True Story.

It reached number 59 on the R&B/Hip Hop Album chart.

His most successful studio album is Thugs Are Us, which got awarded platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America and reached number two on the R&B/Hip Hop Album chart.

9. Ski Mask The Slump God

Stokeley Clevon Goulbourne, i.e. Ski Mask The Slump God, rose to fame in the crew Members Only with XXXTentacion.

He states his influences to be Wu-Tang Clan, Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliott, and Lil Wayne.

Ski Mask The Slump God’s debut studio album was released in 2018 and is titled Stokely.

It was awarded Gold certification by the Recording Industry Association of America after selling over 100,000 copies and charting in twelve different charts.

10. Lil Pump

Gazzy Garcia, better known by his stage name Lil Pump, rose to fame with his debut studio album Lil Pump which was released in 2017.

The album was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America and charted at number two in the US.

Lil Pump’s most famous single is “Gucci Gang”, which was awarded 5x Platinum certification by the RIAA and charted in ten different charts around the world, including the US, Austria, Canada, Germany, New Zealand, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK.

11. Pitbull

Armando Christian Pérez, best known as Pitbull, is a famous Florida rapper who has released over one thousand songs in total!

He rose to prominence upon the release of his debut studio album M.I.A.M.I, which reached number two in the US Rap album chart.

His best-performing single is “Give Me Everything” featuring Ne-Yo, Afrojack, and Nayer which is from the album Planet Pit and was certified 8x Platinum by the RIAA.

It topped eight different charts and reached number two in two different countries.

12. Trina

Katrina Laverne Taylor, i.e. Trina, is a Florida rapper who shot to fame when she featured on Trick Daddy’s song “Nann Nigga”.

She was named by Billboard as one of the “31 Female Rappers Who Changed Hip-Hop”!

Trina’s debut studio album Da Baddest Bitch was released in 2000 and was awarded Gold certification by the RIAA after charting at number 33 and 11 on the Billboard 200 and the US R&B/Hip-Hop Album charts respectively.

13. Plies

Algernod Lanier Washington, otherwise known as Plies, is a Florida rapper born in Fort Myers.

Before he was a rapper he was a receiver on the Miami Redskins football team, but he soon began his rap career after he left University.

Plies won an Ozone Award in 2007 for Best Rap/R&B Collaboration for his work “Shawty” with T-Pain.

He has been nominated for seven other awards for his other work, including his platinum-selling debut album The Real Testament.

14. Hotboii

Javarri Latre Walker, better known by his stage name Hotboii (or H O T B O I I), is a Florida rapper who broke onto the scene when his single “Don’t Need Time” was uploaded on YouTube and garnered lots of attention, reaching over 75 million views.

His first two studio albums, Double O Baby and Life of a Hotboii topped the US Top Heatseekers chart and helped him rise to fame. 

15. 9lokknine

Jacquavius Dennard Smith, otherwise known as 9lokknine (pronounced Glokknine), is a rapper from Florida who began his career when he featured on YNW Melly’s single “223’s”, which went viral and later got certified double platinum.

As a lead artist 9lokknine has one single, titled “Beef”, which features NLE Choppa and Murda Beatz.

He also has three mixtapes: Bloodshells Revenge, Loyalty Kill Love, and Mind of Destruction.

16. YNW Melly

Jamell Maurice Demons is a Florida rapper who goes by the stage name YNW Melly.

He shot to fame upon the release of his debut studio album Melly vs. Melvin, which was certified Gold after charting on the Billboard 200, R&B/Hip Hop, and Canadian charts.

He is best known for his single “Murder on My Mind”, which was certified 6x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America and landed itself in eight different charts.

17. Wifisfuneral

Isaiah Rivera, who is best known as Wifisfuneral, broke onto the Florida hip-hop scene with his debut studio album Pain?.

He also has many mixtapes, including WinterJacket, HXPELESS YXUTH, The Great Depression, and Black Heart Revenge.

Prior to this, Wifisfuneral was a part of the hip-hop group Members Only, alongside XXXTentacion and Ski Mask the Slump God. 

18. DJ Khaled

DJ Khaled, who is known by his friends and family as Khaled Mohammed Khaled,  is an extremely popular Florida rapper who has 31 award wins and 132 nominations.

He even holds a Grammy award for Best Rap/Sung Performance for “Higher” featuring John Legend and Nipsey Hussle!

His studio album Grateful was certified double platinum by the RIAA and topped three different charts in the US!

19. Smokepurpp

Florida rapper Omar Jeffery Pineiro, otherwise known as Smokepurpp, shot to fame on SoundCloud.

He has two studio albums, titled Deadstar 2 and Florida Jit.

The former charted in both the US and Canada.

His most popular single is “Audi”, which is certified platinum and charted at number 8 on the R&B/Hip Hop chart.

The hit racked up over 122 million streams on Spotify and over 25 million on SoundCloud.

20. Vanilla Ice

Robert Matthew Van Winkle, who we fondly know as Vanilla Ice, is best known for his number 1 hit “Ice Ice Baby”, which is certified platinum.

The track came from his debut studio album To the Extreme which was very popular and was certified 6x platinum.

Vanilla Ice has won six awards, namely Favorite Pop/Rock New Artist, Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop New Artist, Best New Song, Best Home Show, and Worst New Star at the Golden Raspberry Awards!

21. Bhad Bhabie

Danielle Brigoli, otherwise known as Bhad Bhabie, began her career in quite a unique way!

She appeared on an episode of Dr. Phil, and quickly became a viral meme after she coined the catchphrase “Cash me outside, how ‘bout that?”.

Her single “Hi Bich”, which came from her mixtape 15, became a platinum-certified hit and charted in the Canadian chart as well as the US Billboard Hot 100 and the US R&B/Hip Hop chart.

22. Mase

Mason Durell Betha, known by the stage name Mase or Ma$e, is a Florida rapper who broke into the rap scene with his debut studio album Harlem World, which was released in 1997.

The album was certified 4x platinum and topped the US and Canadian charts.

His single “Feel So Good” featuring Kelly Price, released in 1997, was his most popular hit, soaring to number one on the US Rap chart and later being awarded platinum certification.

23. Rod Wave

Rodarius Marcell Green, who adopted the stage name Rod Wave, is known to be a pioneer of the subgenre soul trap.

In 2021 he won the Billboard Music Award for Top New Artist, helping him rise to stardom.

Rod Wave has four studio albums: Ghetto Gospel, Pray 4 Love, SoulFly, and Beautiful Mind.

Three of the four have been certified as platinum by the RIAA, and three of them topped the US Rap chart (among other charts).

24. Robb Bank$

Richard O’Neil Burrell Jr. is known by his stage name Robb Bank$ and made his debut when his first mixtape, Calendars, was released in 2012.

He later released the studio album Year of the Savage, which landed on three different US charts.

25. YK Osiris

Osiris Jahkail Williams, better known by his stage name YK Osiris, is a rapper from Florida who began his career at a young age.

He released his debut studio album The Golden Child in 2019, and it got certified gold after charting twice in the US.

His hit single “Worth It”, which came from Golden Child, got certified 3x platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America and charted in the US Billboard Hot 100 and number 48.
